China is facing a new outbreak of the Delta variant in Fujian’s southeastern province, where more than 70 cases of infection have been detected, many of them in children, challenging the Zero Covid policy.
“Less than a month after the Nanjing blast was brought under control last June, dozens of cases have emerged so far in the region,” local authorities said. There are more than 70 infections in three cities: Xiamen, Quanzhou and Putian, which in the last Sunday bulletin, released today by the National Health Commission, recorded 22 cumulative cases.
Of these, another 13 asymptomatic were found in Putian. The province has so far registered 43 internal transmission infections, as of September 10, and 32 asymptomatic ones, all under medical supervision, for a total of 75 cases.
Nationwide, there are 27 new cases imported, related to Sunday, including 17 in Yunnan, five in Shanghai, three in Guangdong and in Sichuan and Shaanxi from one case respectively.
