At least ten people lost their lives and several others were injured when a person rescued himself at a tea shop in the Wadajir district of the capital Mogadishu.
Dadir Hassan, a police officer in the capital Mogadishu, said the suicide attack targeted a tea shop frequented by people near a large military base in Mogadishu.
“It is too early to announce the current number of people killed or injured in the attack, but so far we know that at least 10 people were killed, including soldiers,” Hassan said.
He added that several people, most of them civilians, were also injured in the suicide blast and they were rushed to hospitals for treatment.
The police officer said that security forces from various government agencies arrived at the scene and that investigations are currently underway.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the suicide attack, but police blamed al-Shabaab terrorists for the attack.
Al-Shabaab, an al-Qaeda member, was behind a truck bomb attack in October 2017 in Mogadishu that killed at least 600 people and was considered the worst attack in the nation’s history.AA
