The Yemeni government today accused the Houthi rebels of torturing four journalists and placing them in isolation.
Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said the four journalists were being held in an illegal prison and had been denied visits, according to the official Saba news agency.
On April 11, 2020, rebels issued death sentences against four journalists on charges of collaborating with the Saudi-led coalition, a charge denied by journalists.
According to the minister, the journalists were exposed to torture and harsh treatment and that their health conditions deteriorated in detention.
The Yemeni minister called on the international community, the UN and human rights organizations to exert all possible pressure on the rebels to release them.
There is no statement from the Houthi group on the accusations of the minister.AA
