An Australian court has sentenced an Adelaide man to more than eight years in prison after convicting him of child sexual abuse in Cambodia.
The trial read by Judge Paul Cuthbertson on September 17 found Geoffrey William Moyle, 48, who had filmed himself sexually abusing numerous children in Cambodia who were between the ages of 10 and 14, ABC News reported.
Moyle later uploaded the videos online, causing concern among his victims who are now in their 20s.
He was arrested last May and found guilty of 11 counts, including nine related to child sexual abuse in Cambodia from 2002 to 2005.
He committed the offense while suspected of working as a foreign assistant to the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, a claim dismissed by the department.
Moyle will spend 8 years and nine months in prison with a period of 4 years and six months without parole.
His sentence also includes nine months for “possessing child exploitation material in Australia in 2019”.
