Pope Francis has made a rare confession by surprising quite a few with strong statements. According to Reuters he said some people in the Catholic Church hoped they would not survive the recent colon surgery.
Pope Francis stated this during a meeting with the Jesuits in Slovakia.
Asked about his health, Pope Francis said he was still alive, although “some people wanted to see him dead”. He noted that he knew there were also meetings between certain church leaders who said the Pope was in a much more serious condition than what was said, reports
“They were preparing a conclave to elect a new pope. “Thank God, I am fine,” Pope Francis said in a conversation with the Jesuits.
The pope was in surgery on July 4 and spent 11 days in hospital, after which he served in the Vatican all the time. In recent years, Pope Francis has been at the center of criticism from a small but powerful American conservative who is dissatisfied with the pope’s views on various theological issues as well as social issues from immigration to climate change.
