A train traveling from Chicago to Seattle derailed near Joplin in Montana around 4 p.m. (local time). Three passengers have died and over 50 people have been injured, while five hospitals are on standby to receive the injured.
There were 147 passengers and 13 crew members on board the train. Some passengers said that there are people who are trapped inside the wagons.
Amanda Frickel, disaster and emergency services coordinator for Hill County, Montana, told the New York Times that more than 50 people were injured.
She added that six counties sent rescuers and five hospitals are on standby to receive patients. Some helicopters are also on standby.
