The World Health Organization is launching a new investigation into the origin of Covid-19, after a previous investigation ended without drawing any significant conclusions, according to a report.
“The WHO is assembling a team of about 20 scientists who will be tasked with finding new evidence in China and elsewhere,” the Wall Street Journal wrote.
The group will examine whether the virus came out of a lab, a theory that has been angrily rejected by China.
In December 2020, WHO investigators visited Wuhan, the site of the first outbreak of the virus.
But their March 2021 report claimed that they received insufficient information from Chinese scientists to answer key questions about the origin of Covid-19.
In August, US intelligence agencies released a separate report stating that they could not draw significant conclusions about the origin of Covid-19.
