The American airline United Airlines announced that it has started the procedures to dismiss 593 employees who have refused to be vaccinated against coronavirus (COVID-19).
An e-mail from company executives to employees states that this was an extremely difficult decision, but that they had to guarantee the safety of their teams.
United Airlines, the leading airline in the US, which has made it mandatory for all its employees in the country to be vaccinated against COVID-19, also stated that they have postponed the plan for unpaid vacations from October 2 to October 15 due to of an ongoing lawsuit.
The company with over 67 thousand employees said that 99 percent of the employees have already completed the vaccination, adding that the persons who will be fired will make up 1 percent.
In early August, United Airlines decided to lay off unvaccinated workers, up to five weeks at the latest after the vaccine received full approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).AA
