Iraq claims to have arrested ISIS financial chief in an operation outside its territory.
Sami Jasim al-Jaburi has been arrested by the Iraqi National Intelligence Service, wrote on social media Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, who did not specify the location. Jasim is also known as the deputy leader of ISIS, writes BBC.
The United States had set a $ 5 million reward for information leading to his capture.
Iraqi officials are hailing the capture of Sami Yasim as a major blow to Islamic State.
Although Kadhim did not disclose where Yasim was captured, a senior Iraqi military source told the AFP news agency that it had taken place in Turkey. There was no immediate response from the Turkish authorities to the arrest, but the data so far lead to this track, writes BBC.
