Czech President Milos Zeman is in stable health, health authorities in Prague said.
The 77-year-old was admitted to the intensive care unit on Sunday, as he was not feeling well.
Details of the illness have not yet been revealed, but the cause is believed to have been the situation created by the parliamentary elections.
Zeman’s ally, Prime Minister Andrej Babis, has lost the election.
Zeman plays a crucial role in determining what will happen now, because as president he is responsible for appointing the candidate who will form the new government.
If the head of state is not able, this task passes to the chairman of the Chamber of Deputies.
A Zeman spokesman said the president’s hospitalization did not jeopardize talks between the parties.
Opposition leader Petr Fiala, who won the election, said on Monday he would be patient.
“I will wait until the president’s health improves – which is what I want for him,” Fiala said.
