Following the assassination of Conservative MP Sir David Amess, British Home Secretary Priti Patel announced today that security measures would be put in place for MPs.
She said MPs can continue to do their job adding that the people who attacked democracy will not succeed.
“All measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of MPs so that they can continue with their duties as democratically elected members. We live in an open society, a democracy. “No individual can intimidate us, prevent us from functioning in the service of our elected democracy,” she said.
Conservative British MP Sir David Amess was stabbed to death yesterday at a local board meeting. Amess represented West Southend, Essex, and was attacked at a Methodist church in Lee-on-Sea.
