Acting Taliban Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, a world-renowned terrorist and one of Afghanistan’s top officials, has praised the suicide bombers and promised money and land to their families.
Haqqani, the leader of the Haqqani network and considered a terrorist by the United States, with a compensation of 10 million dollars for his head, met with the relatives of some “martyrs” on October 18 in a hotel in Kabul, said the spokesman of Ministry, Saeed Khosty. Khosty and pro-Taliban Twitter accounts have posted photos showing Haqqani praying and standing close to family members, although in the photo he appears only from behind. The Interior Ministry said in a statement that Haqqani welcomed the families of the bombers, while describing the victims as “holy warriors”.
“Haqqani praised the jihad and sacrifice of the martyrs and mujahideen,” referring to them as “heroes of Islam and the state,” the Afghan state broadcaster RTA reported, adding that he had pledged $ 125 and land to each family. The Haqqani Network, a Taliban-linked militant group, is responsible for deadly attacks on US-led international forces in Afghanistan. Thousands of Afghans have been killed in suicide attacks by the network in the past two decades.
