A bomb attack on a Syrian army bus on Wednesday left 14 people dead. The attack took place in the Syrian capital, Damascus, the state-run Sanaa news agency reported. According to her, the two bombs seized for the bus exploded as the vehicle was passing under the Jisr al-Rais bridge. Although Syria has been in a civil war for a decade, such attacks in Damascus are increasingly rare.
Shortly after the bus bombing, Syrian army attacks killed at least ten people northwest of Damascus.
The area is controlled by the opposition and is the last stronghold of rebel and jihadist groups that have tried to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad since 2011. The war in Syria has left at least 350,000 people dead and has caused half of population to leave homes. Nearly six million Syrian refugees have fled the country.
