Former US President Barack Obama has joined European leaders in a farewell message during the recent summit of Angela Merkel of the European Union.
Through a video message, Obama expressed the privilege of working with him. According to Obama, very few people put the country’s interest before their own interest, expressing the assessment that thanks to it, Europe has succeeded in the aids and storms it has faced.
In the end he thanked her on behalf of the Americans, his wife and daughters.
“Angela, I am joining your friends, colleagues and admirers all over the world in this memory of you. I am proud to have honored you with the Medal of Freedom for your commitment to US-European relations. I was privileged to rely on you in the crises that humanity has faced and I am happy to be your friend as I watched you make difficult decisions. Only very few politicians manage to put the political interest of the country above the personal interest of the Germans and the whole world to owe you a great thanks. Thanks to you, Europe has survived the storms it has faced. Women and girls, boys and men have you as a role model they can take as an example in difficult times and I am one of them. Look forward to very productive years together with your spouse. “On behalf of the Americans, my wife and daughters, we want to thank you for your friendship and leadership,” Obama said in a video message.
