The Singapore Ministry of Health reported about 5,300 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.
The ministry said 10 more people had died in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total number of pandemic deaths in the city-state to 349.
What the ministry labeled an “unusually high” number of new cases brought the total to over 180,000, half of which were reported in the last 28 days, although the daily number never exceeded 4,000 before Wednesday.
About 98 percent of new cases, in the last 28 days, have shown mild symptoms of the disease or none at all.
According to ministry data, about 84 percent of the population of 5.45 million is vaccinated.
