Concerned about rising coronavirus cases in Germany, Angela Merkel has warned health authorities to become more accountable in the face of the pandemic.
“This should be a common concern for all,” Merkel said.
Asked about the restrictive measures imposed during the pandemic, she said it is the responsibility of the state to protect the health of citizens and prevent overcrowding of hospitals with patients.
“Over 2 or 3 million Germans over the age of 60 are unvaccinated and this saddens me because their vaccination can bring an improvement to their health and to society,” she said.
