The person who threatened to kill the Irish member of parliament has fallen into the hands of the police. A British citizen has been charged with allegedly threatening to kill a Labor MP.
A 41-year-old man was arrested in the Cork suburb of Douglas on Saturday and brought to Brideswell Garda station for questioning.
The Irish Examiner reported that the threat was understood to have been made during a phone call to the MP on October 18, just three days after the assassination of Conservative MP David Amess in Essex.
The arrest was made after the Guard executed a search warrant at a residential property at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
His arrest involved 10 officers, who seized a number of electronic devices at the address.
A Guard spokesman said: “A number of electronic items were seized during the search and a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threatening a person outside the jurisdiction.”
