Russia on Tuesday set a new record for coronavirus deaths: 1,211. Hospital authorities report overcrowding in hospitals and urge citizens to get vaccinated.
Vladimir Chulanov, an infectious disease specialist who often works with the Russian Ministry of Health, said about 300,000 beds have been allocated for coronavirus patients. According to him, about 1 million people are being treated on an outpatient basis. The Crisis Center said that in the last 24 hours, 39,610 cases of infected people have been registered.
Russia has some self-made vaccines, but only about a third of the population is vaccinated. The country has registered more than 8.87 million cases of coronavirus and nearly 250,000 victims. Critics and some health experts say the real figures could be even higher.
