Russian President Vladimir Putin has told the EU to start talks with Belarus.
In his second telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in just as many days, Putin “spoke in favor of re-establishing contacts between EU countries and Belarus to resolve this issue,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
The Kremlin said the two discussed the situation and agreed on the “importance of a speedy solution” to the crisis “in line with international humanitarian standards”.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel has told Russian President Vladimir Putin that Belarus was deploying vulnerable people in a “hybrid attack”.
“The chancellor stressed that the situation was caused by the Belarusian regime, which was using vulnerable people in a hybrid attack on the European Union,” said spokesman Steffen Seibert in a statement.
