The White House announced that US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will discuss all aspects of relations between the two countries during an online meeting.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki announced that the online meeting between Biden and Xi will be held on Monday, November 15th.
Stressing that Biden and Xi will discuss elements of competition between the United States and China, Psaki noted that during the meeting the possible areas of cooperation between the two countries will be assessed.
“President Biden will openly express the goals and priorities of the United States and our concerns for China,” Psaki said.
Tensions between the US and China escalated due to recent developments in Taiwan, discussions over human rights violations in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Hong Kong, and issues related to international trade.
The Biden-Xi meeting was not held because the Chinese president did not attend the climate summit held in Glasgow, Scotland, earlier this month.
The White House has said for months that the two leaders will meet online before 2022, but did not provide details about the time of the meeting.AA
