South Korea reported about 500 critically ill patients from the coronavirus a record high since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country.
According to the Seoul-based Yonhap news agency, the country recorded 2,125 new cases in the last 24 hours, including 495 critically hospitalized patients.
Also, South Korea on Saturday had reported 485 patients in serious condition as the country struggles with the fourth wave of the pandemic.
As of July 7, new cases have grown in the country following the appearance of the Delta variant. On September 25, the country reported 3,270 cases, the highest number of daily cases since the outbreak of COVID-19 last year.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, with 2,125 new cases, the total number of cases in South Korea increased to 399,591, while the death toll reached 3,137 with 22 more deaths.
