The Pentagon announced Friday that it will send $820 million worth of additional weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
The fourteenth weapons package for Ukrainian forces includes two air defense systems, more ammunition for the Himars precision-guided missile launchers that the US began shipping in June, about 150,000 rounds of 155 mm artillery ammunition, as well as four additional anti-artillery radars.
Air defense systems, known as NASAMS, are short- and medium-range surface-to-air missile systems.
The remote-controlled launchers are supposed to help Ukrainian forces defend against cruise missiles.
“The United States continues to work with its allies and partners to provide Ukraine with the capabilities to meet its requirements on the battlefield,” said US Department of Defense Press Secretary Todd Breasseale.
With the new weapons package, which relies on US military supplies, the value of the total allocations to Ukraine from the US has reached 6.9 billion dollars, since the beginning of the Russian occupation of Ukraine./REL
