At least 270 cases of Russian forces taking civilians have been documented since the occupation began, the UN said.
“Despite restrictions on access, we have documented 270 cases of arbitrary detention and enforced disappearance. Eight of the people were found dead,” said UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Emine Dzhaparova accused Russia of kidnappings on a “massive” scale.
The UN human rights office has not been granted access to territory occupied by Russian forces.
Moscow has said the UN claims were part of a disinformation campaign to “cover up the crimes of the Kiev regime”.
