At least three people were killed and two others were missing after heavy rain and floods hit parts of Afghanistan’s eastern Paktia province, state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Thursday.
Mawlawi Nisar Ahmad, head of the National Disaster Management Authority office in the province, said the rain and flooding affected the provincial capital Gardez and Sayed Karam, Dand-e-Patan and Ahmad Khil districts.
Hundreds of hectares of farmland and many homes were damaged or destroyed by the flash floods, the report said.
Heavy rains and flooding have also claimed at least three lives and damaged homes and farmland in parts of Parwan and Kandahar provinces in recent days.
