A day after the resignation of Boris Johnson from the leadership of the Conservative Party, but also from the leadership of the British government immediately as soon as the new leader of the party is elected, the Labor opposition demanded new elections.
Labor leader Keir Starmer said Britain deserves a fresh start. According to Starmer, the general election is the answer to the current instability. “We are stuck in a cost of living crisis with a government that cannot solve the problems. Britain deserves that fresh start that can only come with a change of government. “When I meet people on the street, they see the government as a group completely disconnected from reality, whose words have no meaning and who put their own interests first,” said Starmer.
Meanwhile, within the conservatives, the race for Johnson’s successor has started today, but while the latter is expected to remain in office until the election of the new leader of The Tories, there are many calls for him to leave office without wasting time.
The last parliamentary elections in Great Britain were held on December 12, 2019 and were won by Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party.
