The house of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka was set on fire today by the crowd of thousands of protesters, nervous and aggressive as a result of the increase in prices in the country.
The event happened a few hours after his statement that he would resign as soon as the new government was formed. Protesters entered the private residence of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, setting fire to the residence.
According to the prime minister’s office, Wickremesinghe was not at the residence when the protesters were teaching in the building, having previously moved to a safer location.
In the images widely published on the network, the residence of the head of Sri Lanka can be seen, all in flames. Likewise, the protesters also attacked the presidential palace, while the president vowed to resign.
We remind you that the protests started after dissatisfaction with the increase in prices and the cost of living.
