At least 12 people are reported dead and 32 others injured in Zagreb after a bus ran off the road and ended up in a canal.
It is learned that 11 of the victims died at the scene, while one of them died in the hospital. “According to some information, it is about a group that had planned to go on a pilgrimage to Medjugorje”, said minister Davor Božinović.
“All the emergency services immediately went to the field. The emergency came first, 16 teams, then the police, the fire brigade and of course the employees of the KSHA”, said the Minister of the Interior.
He then added: “I informed the prime minister and he spoke with his Polish counterpart Morawiecki personally expressing his condolences to the families and the people of Poland.”
According to information from the Polish media, among the passengers on the bus were 3 priests and 6 nuns.
Meanwhile, it is suspected that there may be other people on the bus, while some of the injured are in serious condition.
