The European Union is preparing a new package of sanctions to react to Russia’s criminal acts, such as the organization of fake ‘referendums’ within the temporarily occupied areas, the commission of crimes against civilians in Ukraine, as well as a partial mobilization, which was announced by Putin.
The relevant statement was made by the main spokesperson of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Peter Stano at a conference in Brussels.
According to Stano, member states have already held a coordination meeting and discussed ways of responding to Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine, including all aspects of Russian aggression: fake ‘referendums’, crimes committed, sites discovered of mass burials, such as that at Izium.
Stano noted that all these elements had been discussed between the Member States. At this stage, such discussion is confidential and information about their decision will be released in due course.
