Japan will reopen its embassy in Kiev and fully resume the work of its diplomatic mission.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal made the Telegram post after a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
“Japan and the Japanese people stand side by side with Ukraine in defense of true values. I was assured of this once again during a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in New York. I thanked for the support of Ukraine during the Russian aggression. An important topic of our conversation is the security of nuclear facilities,” he said.
Shmyhal briefed the Prime Minister of Japan on the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP and Russia’s bombing of the NEC of Southern Ukraine.
It is noted that the prime ministers have coordinated positions on the measures for the demilitarization of the ZNPP. “We count on Japan’s assistance in this matter at the G7 level,” noted Shmyhal.
Also, he thanked Japan for its participation in the Crimea Platform, financial, humanitarian and political support. The parties also discussed the need to increase the pressure of sanctions on the Russian Federation and the creation of a court to hold the senior leadership of the Russian Federation accountable for crimes against Ukrainians.
During the meeting, Fumio Kishida assured that his country will continue to be a “strong advocate for Ukraine” at the G7 level and at the UN.
