The Turkish unmanned warship “Sancar” was presented to the public for the first time at the African Aviation and Defense Exhibition, AAD 2022, in the South African capital, Pretoria, and may soon be in use.
“Sancar” was produced in cooperation between Turkish companies in the defense industry sector, HAVELSAN and Yonca-Onuk.
Many other Turkish companies, representatives of the Turkish defense industry sector, including the HAVELSAN company, also participate in the fair.
The general director of HAVELSAN, Mehmet Akif Nacar emphasized that at the fair they exhibited their products in the field of command control systems, combat management and autonomous unmanned systems.
“We know there is a lot of interest in marine vehicles in Africa. We hope that unmanned autonomous vehicles will find their place in the local market as well”, explained Nacar.
He also commented on the possible deadline for the deployment of autonomous systems in the inventory.
“We have been doing field tests for a long time. Now some decisions have been made. Very soon, until the end of the year, we will be able to see the first products on the ground”, said Nacar.
