Italian authorities have dismantled an Albanian drug trafficking group that operated in Italy, Germany and France.
operation “Red October”in addition to dealing a heavy blow to the criminal organization, highlighted the existence of relationships between Italian and Albanian criminals in international drug trafficking.
On October 10, the Carabinieri of the Santa Margherita Ligure area took three precautionary measures issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Rome against two Italians and an Albanian citizen.
All three are held responsible for various counts of organized crime in cooperation aimed at international drug trafficking.
It all started after the discovery in Rapallo of 38 kilograms of cannabis hidden in the trunk of a car. The investigations then led to the identification of a wider traffic of narcotic substances of international scope, from Albania to the Italian coast, to distribution in France and Germany.
The investigations carried out allowed the authorities to identify an organization of Albanian origin, involved both in the marijuana traffic, which directly took care of the production in the territories of origin, and in the cocaine trade.
A 40-year-old man from the province of Foggia was tasked with organizing the reception of cargoes of cannabis arriving by sea from Albania and Montenegro.
Equally fundamental, in the organization of the criminal chain, was the role of a 30-year-old Albanian who is currently under house arrest in Rome. His task was to manage the cultivation of the drug in Albania, its importation to Italy, to the planning of its distribution in the capital and its surroundings.
