German government will settle a dispute over nuclear power in the coming days, Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said.
“We have decided that we will continue to make it possible, especially this winter, to use nuclear power and this very specific practical issue will be resolved quickly and in time by next week,” he told a news conference.
The German government on Monday rejected a bill to keep two of the country’s last nuclear power plants operating beyond their planned shutdown due to political disputes.
Germany has been forced to consider such measures as the country seeks to reduce its dependence on Russian energy sources.
